What kinds of tutoring do you offer?

Our clinic specializes in reading instruction for students of all ages. This is not tutoring, but an actual phonetic reading course that is highly effective for a variety of situations, including dyslexia or other problems, as well as those who are just behind and wish to excel at reading.

Our child has taken phonics in school, but it didn't help. How is your phonics different?

Most school curricula teach reading by the whole word or sight reading method, through memorization of words. They may teach a few of the basic phonetic sounds, but students do not learn all of the sounds of English. Students who have difficulties with sight reading methods cannot grasp patterns that are taught by visual rather than auditory methods because their brains do not recognize the patterns.

How long does it take to complete the course?

On average most students can complete the course within 30 to 60 hours, with optimal attendance of 3 hours per week. Some students may take much longer. Students are expected to study and practice reading at home. As with anything, practice and review are essential to progress. Parent involvement is welcomed and encouraged.

How many students are in the class?

Instruction is usually one-on-one, but occasionally two students from the same family can work together, at the same cost as one student.

What are the costs?

Our costs are quite affordable, considering that our course can be completed in four to six months. Payment is expected in advance on a monthly basis. There is no contract.
