News ReleaseOctober 6, 2006A new reading program is available in the Rockford area to help students of all ages who achieve reading success. Advance in Reading makes use of a phonics based program that empowers students to succeed in school by raising their reading level. It is being offered by Deborah F. Gorman, Reading Instruction Specialist, of Rockford, beginning November 1, 2006. With ages 5 and up, regardless of learning difficulty, students typically gain 2-4 years within 30-60 hours. They learn skills of decoding all 44 sounds of English, gain fluency and master comprehension. As a result of this success, the child's self confidence soars. Most children will read several books while in the program. (For many this is the first time they have actually read a book.) We are licensed to use the Academic Associates Reading® Program, which was written and developed by Cliff Ponder. An elementary school teacher and principal for 20 years, frustrated that his brightest students couldn't read, Cliff bought into a franchise reading center. Recognizing that it had many flaws, he spent two years devising his own program calling it Academic Associates® Reading Program. Cliff has taught hundreds of children and adults and established licensed programs in six countries. Because of Cliff's vision and efforts, thousands have become better readers. The method works equally well with older students. High school students are enabled to read some of the most difficult words in English, and understand what they read. The method is also widely used in Asia, Europe and Middle Eastern countries because of its effectiveness with students of diverse ethnic and language backgrounds. Interested parents may call for a free, no obligation reading evaluation. For more information or to enroll your child, call 815-394-1726 today.
